Known as the "silent disease," osteoporosis occurs in 50% of all post-menopausal women and even 25% of men. This two-day course offers insight into the causes of osteoporosis (and its precursor, osteopenia), an explanation of the measurements used to detect it, contraindicated exercises as well as recommended strengthening protocol.  The course is unique in that it approaches the subject from a holistic view of the body and taught by someone with personal experience with the condition.  Due to its prevalence in our society, osteoporosis should be taken into consideration in any exercise or movement program.

Learn protocols to SAFELY work out your clients, modifying Pilates without losing its well-known benefits like abdominal control, even without spinal flexion.  Learn new bone-strengthening techniques to maximize bone density and architecture.  Learn to challenge all levels of clients from the beginner middle-aged mover to the elderly who cannot get onto the ground to the advanced client who wants to continue her hard-core Pilates workout without dangerous spinal flexion exercises like Overhead.   Improve posture and balance and empower your clients!

This course will conclude on Sunday with a one-hour “public” class at 4:00.  This class is included in your price of the workshop.  If you have sisters, mothers, friends who would like to attend, there will be a $15.00 drop in fee.
